Mark Rice is the principal Financial Adviser at The Gild Group - an accounting, advisory and wealth management firm specialising in the music, entertainment and creative industry. It is one of only a handful of firms nationally that offer an holistic service to clients to clients in the music, entertainment and creative industry.

Mark's decision to enter into his own business was strongly influenced by the opportunity to offer a service that was 'his own' and give him a good work/life balance. Mark's first priority is to ensure he helps his clients achieve their goals and form great relationships with them. He believes this is integral to the success of his business. Coupled with their expertise in the entertainment industry, The Gild Group are a recipe for continued success. The people in his business are also a massive strength to the success of The Gild Group. They continually work on building their client base and evolving their service to suit our clients.

Mark does not believe there are weaknesses in his business, but rather challenges - something that The Gild Group, like all growing businesses face. Following the recent Banking Royal Commission, there has been a microscope on financial advisers and a significant increase in compliance requirements. This is no issue to Mark, as he always acts in the best interest of his clients. However, with additional compliance comes extra cost, and the challenge is making financial advice affordable to everyone. The threat of changing legislation certainly keeps Mark on his toes and he always ensures he is up-to-date with current regulations and changing laws.

Factors such as streaming affect how people make money from the music industry and ultimately The Gild Group as well as part of the global entertainment industry. Mark says, "you need to ensure that you have the right structures in place to run a global business and focus on your own personal wealth because you never know 'if the music will stop one day'".

Mark is one of Marcellin's most dedicated and ongoing supporters, he says, "Marcellin is a fantastic community of people from all walks of life who are committed to supporting each other. The Bald Eagles (Baldies) were his first introduction to the Marcellin back in 2008 and he is very glad that he decided to pull the boots back on and become part of this great community. Mark is also on the Business Network committee and is always a willing volunteer when needed.
